The Azores Chromis (Chromis limbata) is a small schooling fish found among the reefs and lagoons of the Eastern Atlantic. They have a golden-silver body with black or blue outlines on their dorsal and caudal fins. Males develop a purple hue when spawning and may also be more territorial during this season. They feed on small planktonic crustaceans, such as mysis or krill, and do well in heavily rocked aquariums. They may be kept singly, in pairs or in a school, and reach a maximum size of 4 inches. This being said, they should not be housed in an aquarium with larger, predatory fish. They are suitable for reef aquariums, though they should not be kept with small, prized invertebrates, such as Venus Shrimp or Bumblebee Shrimp, as they may try to eat them. They should be housed in an aquarium with at least 30 gallons.
