Basket Star, Astrophyton muricatum, are an usual species of stars that by day are tightly coiled into a ball under a rock or clumped onto a gorgonian. By night however, they open up waving their numerous large arms in the water collecting plankton and other food. 

They are better suited for large reef setups as they require expert level care and regular feedings of small marine food particles and live food for supplemental feedings and nutrition.
